Welcome To The Washington State Coastal Region
Welcome To The Washington State Coastal Region
Written By Sophie, Lucy, and Jeffrey
The Coastal Region is the western most part of Washington State and the only part that touches the Pacific Ocean. It is home to the Olympic Mountains, the highest peak being 7,965 feet tall, the arrow shaped Gray’s Harbor, the wide Willapa Bay, the Columbia River Estuary, the Willapa Hills, Long Beach, and the strait of Juan de Fuca.
The Coastal Region has the most rain in the whole of Washington State. The Coastal Region has cold winters and warm summers.
The agriculture of the Coastal Region has really helped the development of the state. Some things that people raise and grow in this region are horses, pumpkins, Christmas trees, pigs, flowers, berries, and chickens. Most of this is done in Chehalis River Valley. As well as farming, there is an important fishing industry that provides things like oysters, clams, salmon, trout, and crabs. The rain is very helpful for farming. The Coastal Regions’s agriculture is truly magnificent.
